One of the coolest aspects of motorsports is how diverse and different each racing series is. NASCAR, IndyCar, and Formula E are fun in their own rights, but rallycross races are an entirely different breed with their own unique type of fun.

This photo was taken behind the bleachers at the Lucas Oil Raceway in Indianapolis, Indiana, in 2017 during one of the last Red Bull Global Rallycross (GRC) events. Not of the year, it was one of the last GRC races ever because the series was canceled shortly after. This is not to be mistaken with World Rallycross (World RX), which is still going.

The races had a bit of everything, with track, dirt, drifting, jumping, and bumping, all the ingredients to make for thrilling showdowns that only last a few laps. The field featured Honda Civics, Volkswagen Beetles, Subaru WRX STIs, and Ford Fiestas like the one seen here. This example belonged to Cole Keatts, an up-and-comer who pilots rallycross cars, off-road trucks, and stock cars. As mentioned, it’s no longer possible to attend a GRC event, but if the opportunity ever presents itself to go to a rallycross race, take it. You won’t regret it.
