An Old Audi With a Modern Turbo Inline Five-Cylinder Engine; Now That Is Cool
The 2.5-liter five-cylinder in the most recent TTRS makes 394 horsepower and launches it to 60 MPH in less than 3.7 seconds..
I saw this Audi at Radwood NorCal and instantly fell in love.

Who doesn’t love seeing an old Audi 5000 Quattro with a modern, turbocharged, 2.5-liter VW/Audi inline-five thrown under the hood? Well, I presume it’s that engine; by the looks of the coil packs, at least…
Regardless, it isn’t the original engine that came in it. And the power level probably isn’t anywhere near original, either. The 2.5-liter five-cylinder in the most recent TTRS makes 394 horsepower and launches it to 60 MPH in less than 3.7 seconds. I can only imagine that this 5000 is lighter than a TTRS, and has a lot more tuning done to it.
Here’s a more up-close image of the powerplant in the 5000, to get an idea of what’s going on:
As you can see, there’s a big ol’ turbo, barely-any sign of factory components, and tons of customization. Yeah, this thing’s gotta be a real screamer. Chalk this up to car’s I’d love to experience a glorious AWD launch in.
